We arrived in Eryri on the Friday night and soon dug into our lovely supper before heading to bed and had a “good” night’s sleep. Not long after waking up early ready for the day ahead, we had sausage and egg baps and packed our lunch and equipment for the BIG walk. We took a short ride in the minivan to the start of our walk and surprisingly for Wales there was sun! During our walk we found many ways to make 12 miles fun. We acted scenes from music videos, photographed the landscape and our friends, and always managed to find something to climb. Even with the number of bogs on our walk, we found some enjoyment in watching our friends fall in (they were fine don’t worry). The thing that makes scout walks fun is that everyone is included and considered for. Half of our group decided that they would rather take a shorter route after they became a bit tired, so we split our leaders and each group had a much better, fairer walk. We arrived home but the fun doesn’t stop there, we still had many games and challenges to help develop our knowledge of the countryside code. Before making dinner from ration packs (they taste way better than they look). Tomorrow we will head for a five mile walk to an ice cream parlour and hopefully enjoy some Hufen ia (ice cream) in the sun if the weather agrees.
