Explorers spent a day in the hills as they tackled part of the Dee Valley Way from Carrog to the Horseshoe Falls in Llangollen.

Three ascents and descents meant that the Explorers climbed a total of 760m over the course of the 15.5km hike – hard going but rewarded with scenic views across the Dee Valley.

There were a few stops, along with lunch, to rest tired legs.  Lunch also included some much appreciated homemade school cake (made by one of our cub leaders) to fuel them for their final ascent.

Explorers also took the opportunity to complete some water sampling and testing for the Dee Trust, a local charity working to improve the health of the river Dee and its catchment area.  Explorers are supporting the Dee Trust as their community project, a key component of the Platinum award that they are working towards.
